This morning, FDA announced a public meeting scheduled for February 14-15 to discuss “strategic partnerships” to enhance the safety of imported food. The meeting will be held at FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition in College Park, Maryland, and will also be webcast live.
FDA says the meeting will address how partnerships can help the agency (i) promote food safety capacity in countries that import to the U.S., (ii) “operationalize the concept of ‘same level of public health protection’ in relation to FDA’s hazard analysis, preventive controls, and produce safety requirements,” and (iii) improve the risk assessment process through voluntary private standards, commodity-specific export programs, or other standardized tools.
Registration ends February 8, 2017, and can be done on-line here.
